Defending Liberty
Russell served in the military for 20 years in active and reserve components. He is a Vietnam veteran, a Paratrooper, and officer in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. Russell received numerous decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Joint Service Meritorious Service Medal.
His military service is part of a family tradition that extends through his father's service in World War II, his father-in-law's in the Korean War, Russell and his brother's in the Vietnam War and his son's current service as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
